Welcome to home of Narrow Gauge South, the south of England’s leading small scale narrow gauge model railway exhibition.
Our next exhibition will be held in 2018.
Proudly presented by the Wessex Narrow Gauge Modellers, this year’s exhibition on Saturday 9th April, showcased 28 of the best narrow gauge layouts in a variety of gauges and scales, complemented by trade stands, including Parkside Dundas; and the 009 Society and 7mm Society Sales Stands. For the first time we welcomed our friends from both the Ffestiniog Railway Society and the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, as well as renewing acquaintances with Amberley Museum and the RCTS.
Some well known layouts joined us for the last time: Isle Ornsay moves to pastures new (and a probable rebrand) and Dunalistair was shown for probably the last time in the UK. Some of our other layouts celebrated significant anniversaries, Aldbourne being notable for 25 years on the exhibition circuit.
It was a great pleasure for Wessex Narrow Gauge Modellers to inagurate a trophy, the first in the groups history, for Best Exhibit in Show. The trophy, sponsored by PECO and consisting of a PECO 4mm scale Lynton & Barnstaple coach mounted on suitable wooden plinth, was awarded to Garreg Wen, an award winning and superbly atmospheric layout by Matthew and Helen Kean. Congratulations!
For those who exhibited at this year’s show, Wessex Narrow Gauge Modellers hope you had an enjoyable day. Please accept our thanks for joining us for our 40th anniversary celebration.
